City Commissioner holding town hall for diabetes awareness tomorrow

One Albany commissioner is working with Phoebe Health works to combat diabetes in South Georgia.

According to the American Diabetes Association, over 29-million Americans have diabetes.

About one-fifth of them don't know they have it.

Here in Dougherty County, 15 percent of residents are living with diabetes.

At tomorrow's meeting, a certified diabetes education will walk you through the warning signs and answer any questions you have.

"Its a big issue in Dougherty County because it's our lifestyle. It's what we eat and we don't monitor it," said Jon Howard, City Commissioner.

It's from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the East Albany Police Department Community Center on 1721 East Oglethorpe.
