Locals Kick off Diabetes Awareness Month Empty Locals Kick off Diabetes Awareness Month

Post by Admin Sat Oct 21, 2017 1:50 pm

On Friday evening the local non-profit organization Diabetes Counts hosted an open house for the public, educating people about the disease and raising awareness.
The two-part event had something for everyone. Diabetic children attended the Colorado Mesa University youth night, while their parents learned more about their children's condition at the open house.
People living with, or caring for someone with Type I or Type II diabetes also attended the event. The open house was a perfect way to kick off Diabetes Awareness month this November.
Stephany Seuell, vice president of Diabetes Counts, said, "A time to have a lot of different education events, chance to hit different schools and different hospitals. Like cancer, we like to have the time to get the education out there and the sponsorships and the technology growth."
Diabetes Counts was formed by parents of diabetic children. Officials say there are 84 students with the condition in District 51.
